Shadow Prints

The Shadow Prints collection showcases a new and exclusive technique from Davines Professional – shadowing.

The shadowing technique is all about adding depth to create movement using deep chocolate, coffee or caramel shades. We are so used to hairdressers creating movement with lightener using well-loved techniques such as balayage, reflect and highlights; that we’re really excited about this innovative trend.

Shadowing is the brainchild of Tom Connell – Davines Hair Art Director. Tom has overturned the traditional way of thinking of brown hair.  With Shadowing the hairdresser selects some sections and darkens them to create depth and movement. Normally the lighter part of the hair is close to the face, but in this case it is the opposite concept.  The darker and richer shade is close to the skin, whereas the lighter tone is on the rest of the hair.  In this way eyes, cheekbones, lips and complexion stand out.

Shades & Contrasts

Look how Tom Connell plays with different shades of grey: darker sections pop up in unexpected spots giving movement to the whole cut. The daring contrast of shades is achieved using the new Davines Shadowing technique.  The key to this service are shadows, i.e. darker sections that enhance the rest of the colour generating a visual effect where light grey is brighter and all the hair looks thicker.

The greater the tone difference, the more visible the contrast.
