Fastfoils transfer and hold heat more effectively for a faster processing time, reducing the need for damaging higher percentages of developer. Applied in the same way as conventional foils they make colouring faster, with healthier hair and greater efficiency.
Efficiency check
Here’s the low-down: Fastfoils are high-performance endothermic foils that are ultra-black coated with special thermal properties to achieve higher levels of lift and better colour deposit more effectively than regular foils. The brand claims the integrity of the hair is protected while achieving the consistent, even and high level of lift you want, and processing 25% faster (in a warm environment). Fastfoils eliminates the need to use potentially damaging higher levels of developer. The launch in the UK comes in February 2024 and the Fastfoils will be available three different pre-cut sizes and in rolls of 5” and 8”.
Who are behind the brand?
Founder of Fastfoils Ben Barkworth
Ben Barkworth is the company founder – a Brit raised in Canada and now owner and creative director of JustB salon in Toronto. He has 15 years in the salon and working as a sessionista, recognised for his work with JustB and JustB Professional Products. Ben’s inspo for Fastfoils came from his session work in 2018, and he recently collected Inventor of the Year at the Hollywood Daytime Beauty Awards, as well as the 2023 Canadian Men’s Hairstylist of the Year title.

Now, education is part of the premise at Fastfoils with great education programmes on offer. They are led by directors of education J Ladner (who is LA-based, see him here @itsmrjladner) and Ben himself. Virtual and in-person classes on ‘Efficiency Placement and Patterns includes six signature placements and patterns from the Fastfoils World Cities Collection ‘to create depth and movement with efficiency’. And there are business development courses, too which help to grow revenue and new services.

Each smart, black box of foils is packaged with instructions on the underside and a QR code to link to free education videos.

- Brush set: One Detailing brush; one Extra Wide colour brush; and a Balayage Paint Brush.
- Unicorn Palette: a compact palette comprising six compartments for with brushes that hang inside each is ergonomically designed for max comfort in using.
