Celebrating longevity is more than just marking an anniversary milestone; it’s paying homage to integrity, quality and authenticity
In the Summer edition of Tribu-te magazine we marked the 100th anniversary of the estimable Takara Belmont brand. Here’s the feature we published in honour of this amazing label:
We offer our congratulations to Japanese brand Takara Belmont on reaching its Centenary, marking 100 years of innovation, invention and development in cutting-edge design and manufacturing. With enduring characteristics of vision, ambition, dedication and attention to detail, this is a brand that has kept pace with technology to continually deliver exciting furniture and equipment design that is now beloved worldwide.
Browsing pictures of the best salons worldwide, we know that from West coast USA to upmarket Shanghai and you’ll discover chairs bearing the distinctive Takara Belmont logo. Like a friendly wave from a familiar friend, it’s a mark of recognition. It is evidence of a marriage of form and function – in other words putting together desirability of looks with necessity of performance – as only a discerning salon owner will choose from the now extensive portfolio of chair ranges, salon furniture lines and spa equipment. And it’s probable that many of the most striking shops and salons will have drawn on Takara Belmont design service, too. Following international fashion and design, cultural nuances and global trends, Takara Belmont has perfected the art of conceiving wonderfully inspirational salon and barbershop environments that are translated into designs that optimise use of space for operating the perfect business.
How have they built up such a remarkable brand story? From the outset, Takara Belmont has employed designers from a wealth of disciplines to ensure every aspect, from silhouette to mechanics are premium standard. They last a long, long time! The angle of the seating, the contours of a cushion, the tilt of a neck-rest; no detail is left unattended. After all, the comfort of your clients is paramount, and to invest in a Takara Belmont piece is a reflection of this desire to ensure a top-flight salon visit. Study the portfolio of alluring chair designs and see the most iconic Apollo 2 grooming chair series – a serious style-statement for any salon or barbershop, these are magnificent ‘beasts of beauty’. Equally, the Adria series might have been conceived nearly 50 years ago in 1973, but with the latest incarnation – the Adria II styling chair – it remains one of their most popular modern chair designs. Removable, replaceable cushions are testament to this expectation of long service.
As the hairdressing industry has grown and advanced over the decades, Takara Belmont has extended its purpose to develop and introduce ground-breaking ways to transform haircare, treatments, chemical processes, and colour. The Rollerball F and Spa Mist II processors revolutionise your salon services and work in synergy with the quest for more healthy ways to treat hair. The luxurious options in the Yume Series elevate your salon into a spa being perfect for head and spa treatments. Indeed, motorised chairs including the Legend and the Maxim are like a sinking into a warm hug as the client reclines fully for the ultimate in sumptuous spa-like experience.
Interestingly, Takara Belmont remains a third generation family-owned independent business, spearheaded by global CEO Hidetake Yoshikawa. While we seek out brands with purpose and identity, this family dedication contributes to a lasting preoccupation with exemplary service, precision in design and manufacturing and the pursuit of innovation. In July 2020 Stephen Price was promoted to the role of UK managing director. “We intended to transform hairdressing, barbering and beauty and although we’ve achieved so much, our mission to deliver equipment and services that exceed the expectations of hairdressers and barbers, and their customers remains constant. The longevity of many of our products are testimony to what has been accomplished so far and we will add to our heritage as we look forward to the next 100 years!”
Takara Belmont, we raise a toast and wish you another 100 years of beautiful design to come.
