Gina in the spotlight

In Uncategorized by Nicky

Gina Conway is having a moment! This dynamo of energy and creativity has turned a positive out of the frankly hideous experience of being a London salon-owner in the time of a Covid Pandemic (she got the whole bag of Lockdown worries thrown at her including landlords, staffing and Furlough, city centre location, little access to grants). Today Gina is making headlines for all the right reasons.

A first as Sustainability Ambassador

In the past few days, Gina Conway has been announced as the very first ever Trade Sustainability Ambassador for Aveda UK. She is charged with “promoting the brand’s sustainable initiatives and supporting the Aveda salon network to implement meaningful practices”. Of course, this will be a cinch for the woman who literally lives for the environment. At the heart of everything Gina does, is the desire to leave the planet a better place than she found it. Putting as much mindfulness and thought into the way she runs her hairdressing company (now 5 salons strong) is what Gina is skilled at. We found this recent podcast recorded by the Respectfully hairdressing site – it’s a great listen: TUNE IN HERE

The voice of reason

Browse the programme of content for the colourworld.tv platform and among the programmes available to watch (for FREE!) – including the best colour education and big brand shows gathered in one place – you’ll find Gina. Talking the talk and walking the walk, Gina joins the panel on two debates that address the way we do hairdressing in 2021. Post-Covid, the consumer demand for more efficient yet environmentally sustainable practices is high. Have a look at a couple of the conversations addressing this. We’re impressed!

A new company

Gina is launching a new company that launches sustainable salons from the ground up – from the build (the very fabric of the salon itself) to the way the salon is run. This is a personal dream of Gina’s to really help hairdressing to change. This will be offering franchise opportunities to hairdressers who aspire to run their own business and yet also have the passion to create as sustainable a proposition as possible. Aveda is partnering Gina on this new initiative and we’ll be bringing you more news as it comes. Reach out to Gina if you’d like to explore the idea early doors – see her on Instagram @gina_conway

It’s refreshing to see someone talking in such a relatable way about big issues; it makes them feel manageable and we’re totally obsessed with how Gina puts everything into perspective.
