Davines has opened its first UK-based House & Academy in Kings Cross, Central London! A peek at the photographs suggests it’s quite intriguing! With a square footage of over 4,600, interior designer Melody Weir (who also designed the brand’s New York premises) delivers a space which brings the brand’s DNA and sustainability ethos to life. Note, there are more than 30,000 individual plants and several hundred different species in the UK House… a mixture of monsteras, pothos, philodendrons, prayer plans and assorted asplenium ferns makes up a carefully crafted living plant wall. We can’t wait to see this in person!
Sustainability
All timber within the space is made from recyclable materials, while the cushion covers are from reused plastic bottles and the curtains are made from sustainably sourced fabrics. An intelligent daylighting system automatically adjusts light levels based on external conditions. As a space that prioritises sustainability and the well-being of its people, the Davines House & Academy is definitely worth visiting.
History
Since the brand launched in the UK some 15 years ago, Davines has partnered with Ena salon in Covent Garden, to train thousands of hairdressers across a diverse menu of educational courses. But to host more courses and workshops Davines needs a bigger training facility, to further spread its expertise and sustainability message.
Mark Giannandrea, the global general manager and director of Davines says: “Globally we see the UK Professional Hairdressing market as strategically important because of the quality of the hairdressing in the UK and how the rest of the world look to British hairdressing for trends, quality and creativity.”
Community
Matt Martin, the general manager of Davines UK & Ireland says: “Community is at the heart of who we are as Davines, and the building of our new House and Academy in London creates a home for our people and our partners. It is a space that brings to life the purpose and culture of our company, designed to have a positive impact for all that visit us. The location of our House was key, being in the heart of the city and enabling us to welcome customers from all over the UK and Republic of Ireland. Our purpose-built Academy will enable us to train more hairdressers than ever before, alongside our portfolio of courses available through our regional academy partners. We’re incredibly excited to be opening our home and start writing the next chapter for Davines in the UK and Republic of Ireland.”
We look forward to raising a glass at the official opening in April 2023, meantime browse these great pictures and to read more on Davines, click HERE
