The 2020 Final for the Colour World Genius Awards took place at the London venue for Colour World TV last Sunday and it was a great night- quite emotional as well.. Broadcast live across Channel 2 of the Colour World TV station, the final ceremony was presented in the studio by Nicky Pope, with more than 35 different contestants joining via Zoom. The vibe was electric!
There are 8 trophies in the Colour Genius Awards, with entries submitted in Spring 2020 and judged online by a panel of more than 55 eminent colourists. As the planned live finals were delayed from May due to the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, the CWGAs were moved to a TV format for the first time. Thanks to the power of connectivity and hard-work of the CWTV technicians, as Nicky announced each category, viewers at home could see both the entries that had made the finals for each trophy, plus see the finalists on screen. The energy and delight of all participants was uplifting.
“I’m thrilled that we could bring a bit of normality back to the world of colourists in the UK. It felt like we did have a party – just 2020 style! Seeing winners announced in real-time was very important. Altogether this was a joyful occasion and I must thank our sponsors for coming with us on the new adventure of TV for colourists” says Nicky Pope, CEO of Colour World.
