Warm Shades done right

Warm Shades, Done Right

In Uncategorized by Nicky

Spring and summer are the seasons where hair is your canvas for light, warmth and natural movement. Beyond being flattering, warm tones can lift dull colour, add dimension and bring radiance. For you, it’s a great space to create looks for your client that feel effortless and considered.

Nailing the right warm shades is as much about technique as it is about colour. These Joico highlight the importance of tailoring tones to suit each client’s features, lifestyle, and maintenance preferences.

Warm Shades done right

Bona Jörg Valentina Malta at Joico have advice for you!

Warm blonde

Starting with warm blondes, Bona Jorg, Joico creative colour and blonde life ambassador, describes warm blondes as a stylist’s playground.  Shades like honey blonde, golden blonde and peach blonde are taking centre stage this season allowing room to build depth and subtle contrast, while enhancing natural features.

“Warm tones can intensify green eyes or make blue eyes pop, while adding richness to the hair without overwhelming the skin tone,” says Bona.

Choose Red

Red tones are another key direction. The magnetic shades that give hair depth, vibrancy and a natural glow.  Bona says, when suggesting this range, consider skin tone. Richer terracotta and auburn shades work well on neutral skin tones, while strawberry, softer copper tones can create light-reflecting dimension and movement throughout the hair.

“Warm reds also complement eye colour beautifully: layered strawberry or copper highlights make green and hazel eyes pop, while deeper auburns bring out the depth in blue eyes. Clients immediately notice the difference and how flattering these warm tones are on their skin.”

 Be Brunette

Warm brunette shades also play an important role, especially for refreshing faded colour. They bring shine and a healthy bounce. Valentina Malta, Joico ICE member and Next Gen member, recommends considering the client’s skin and eye colour when selecting a shade.

Valentina suggests the following approach:“Working with warm brunette tones is where you really get to play with depth and dimension. Shades like caramel, chocolate, hazelnut, deep mocha, or sun-kissed brunette give hair richness that feels natural but catches the light in just the right way. It’s amazing how a touch of warmth can make hair look and feel instantly revitalised.”

To balance warmth: warmer tones, such as caramel to bring a gentle lift and glow. Cooler tones, such as chocolate, hazelnut or deep mocha to add richness and dimension without brassy tones.

Warm tones are also perfect for refreshing dull or faded colour. They restore softness, shine, and a healthy bounce, whether layered subtly or used in more prominent highlights for extra dimension. The effect is hair that feels nourished, looks luminous, and moves naturally. Clients notice the results instantly: the colour feels tailored, flattering, and effortlessly vibrant.”

Have fun; enjoy warm

As the seasons shift, clients are naturally looking to refresh their look. Guiding them towards tones that enhance their features is where colour becomes more than a trend, it becomes personal.
