Davines education is launching the second edition of its highly regarded Talent Green House programme. Launched in 2020 to help hairdresser extend their learning with a programme of collaboration and co-creating, this is one fantastic initiative to drive standards up. It’s a hybrid of mentoring with competition and open to any level of stylist. Here’s how it works:
Open the greenhouse door
Eshewing the need for employing stylists, photographers and all the expense of retouching, potential Talent Green House participants are invited to jump onto Instagram – making all participation 100% digital, and free. Oh, and open to any Davines stylists anywhere in the world.
In a nub, this is a 6-month creative competition platform that allows young talent to access the industry’s finest leaders, to enjoy inspirational lectures, and revel in the support of great mentors. Language is no barrier. The point is to learn together, but at several stages challenges are set and the pool of participants is gradually whittled down to find who has progressed and delivered more in the time.
Talent Green House: 100 to 1
In 2020, 100 participants joined from all over the world. Hairdressers form Brazil, UK, USA, Mexico, Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand, Sweden, Germany, Spain (23 countries in total) took part in challenges and tasks, aimed at helping them build creative problem solving, digital and creative skills. They were coached in their learning journey by a team of mentors, Davines hairstylists and qualified trainers, headed by the internationally acclaimed Davines hairstylist Candice McKay.
Throughout the process, assessment and encouragement, knowledge and inspiration are shared in equal measure. And the Wow! As a finale to the whole experience is being invited to Davines World Wide Hair Tour to perform their own show. Brazilian Roberta Semchechen scooped the top prize from the first edition and, following intensive coaching with Davines superstars Tom Connell and Ashleigh Hodges, will be live with Davines this June!
