Whoah! All eyes on the Blue Tit salon group please which is absolutely slaying it on the business, creative and social front. Blue Tit is now a nine-salon London group with shops in the coolest of areas from Brixton to Peckham to Portobello. They are chill yet serious – the first salon collective to gain B Corps accreditation. And that doesn’t come without plenty of commitment and effort, for sure! Lets dive into the Blue Tit world to see how 2023 is shaping up…
B Corp status
As we’ve documented before, gaining a B Corp certification is hard work, and frankly quite onerous for smaller companies to achieve. You need to be committed to ‘purpose beyond profit’ and address all aspects of your business, making it as diverse, inclusive and ethical as possible. You have to demonstrate systems and record-keeping, but the result is worth it. Blue Tit has always been heading in this direction and now earns the professional title which is to be respected. They tell us, ‘celebrating all hair types, Blue Tit recently rolled out afro and textured hair services across all salons, meeting the needs of its growing clientele whilst honouring individuality and self-expression.”
This Summer, the company will be taking part in pop-up, pan-Europe festivals, and to continue levelling up skills from consistent training and will work across shoots led by creative director Tom Warr. This is no formula-following company; Blue Tit flies its own path… and it’s joyful to see the way everyone can flourish in their own way.
Blue Tit podcast
Lively on socials with an attractive online visibility, the Blue Tit team has expanded into the world of podcasts. You can watch online the film/recording of the first two. The motif is exploring how different souls can progress and express themselves in their career. It’s very interesting and the informality of the conversations makes them very accessible. Have a browse on these:
Episode 1: From Apprentice to academy creative director: Tom Warr opens up to Blue Tit co-founder Matt Gabbie about insecurities and how hairdressing has allowed him to flourish in the creative world and grow skills. It’s a gritty conversation and addresses Tom’s history of using alcohol as a confidence crutch. Brave and touching.
Episode 2: Award-winning published hair stylist and Blue Tit’s Afro and textured hair specialist: Pashcan’el Mitchell shares his hairdressing journey… intriguing!
It’s refreshing to share stories and brand news which is less predictable and gives confidence that you in your career, and your business in its journey, can carve out a route that is specifically yours.
