Digital connectivity keeps us close to Antoinette Beenders, despite her being located on another continent! We remain mesmerised by our Dutch friend, who is hugely influential, being the senior Vice President of Global Professional Artistry at Aveda. We adore her creative output and the release of her latest hair drop ‘Astral’ confirms on many levels how technology helps in breaking new ground.

This capsule collection Astral comprises three images and draws inspiration from what Antoinette calls ‘the enigmatic realm of out-of-body experiences’. She explains this as a bold mission to redefine the boundaries of hair design. Antoinette continues to do what we enjoy best – her ability to seamlessly intertwine cutting-edge artistry and technology.
For Astral, Antoinette ingeniously employs AI-generated imagery for every facet of the collection, except for the model’s face and hair. This is an exciting collaborative effort with the multidisciplinary artist Ed Maximus. We love it! See this live for more hair inspo HERE
Astral represents a natural evolution of Antoinette’s previous work, taking the ridge technique she initially developed for a couture fashion show to explore further. She transcends traditional hair design, driving her work to be part of an ‘alternate dimension’ with this strong emphasis on three-dimensional hair. Be impressed by how her vision mirrors the aesthetics of rounded architecture. It beautifully captures gentle contours and fluidity. We love how Astral both a groundbreaking and an otherworldly exploration of hair artistry. Putting AI in it’s place. Bravo
