Adam Reed London salon is open!

In Uncategorized by Nicky

After a decade at the helm of top brand Percy&Reed, hairdresser/ L’Oréal Professional UK and ghd Global Brand Ambassador Adam Reed is going solo, opening the Adam Reed London; a curated hair and lifestyle space in the heart of London’s East End. We’re thrilled for him!
So how is an Adam Reed London salon shaping up? Suffice to say, it’s not your traditional hair salon. More like a creative hub. A warm, welcoming space where clients can be as peaceful or productive as they like. A space for them to read, relax or work. Yes, they can also get their hair done!
For his first solo salon launch, Adam is  bringing together a new set of unique guiding ‘hair principles’, basically his point of view on hair, which will guide all salon services at Adam Reed London. Using his years of experience as a salon owner and travelling widely, Adam is making this salon utterly personal.

A ‘no-trend’ salon

We’re not talking trends’’ says Adam. ”I firmly believe there’s no ‘one size fits all’- it’s all about creating personality in your hair. My clients aren’t massively bothered by what’s on trend every week. My heritage has always been about creating beautiful, wearable hair and that’s what you’ll find in the salon.’’

The hairstyle/lifestyle playbook

I don’t ever want a client’s hair to look good for 20 minutes when they leave the shop,” says Adam.  Accompanying the ‘Hairstyle/Lifestyle’ consultations could be lessons in heat styling or a product demonstration to find the genius picks that will help clients maintain their style. Interesting!

Curated colour and Instinctual cutting

Every client will get a tailored experience. The most important thing is the conversation between the client and the stylist. The trust that is built will allow the colourist to employ a curated mix of professional techniques and L’Oréal Professionnel hair colours in order to create the perfect look for the client.
Same with haircutting. Adam believes that great cutting is all down to the relationship between the stylist and the client;  even if it’s the first time they’ve met. ‘It’s about being so on the same page; the point is to let your stylist go with what they instinctively know will get them to the right place,’’ he says. A team of expert hairdressers who share Adam’s belief in ‘egoless hairdressing’ are joining the salon. ”They are brilliant hairdressers but also kind, empathetic with great personalities,’’ he says.

We know that Sean Dawson (pictured left)  – a man with a long history of contributing to the hairdressing industry in more than just hair skills.
Sean is a wise manager and has a broad view of the global industry and of how important UK hairdressing is. There will also be guest experts on hand for special hair ‘moments’ throughout the year.

Sarah Black, an award-winning colourist is amongst the new team, and Josh Woodman as senior stylist. Watch this space for plenty of accomplished action from this posse!

Interior

Adam has chosen some of his favourite artists to work with on the salon’s interior, from House of Hackney fabrics to Jamie Gaunt Wooden Objects. There is an emphasis on reclaimed furniture and a warm colour palette. Expect many vintage references, like a Grace Brothers–style display cabinet and vintage Ladderax cabinets housing the tea and coffee station. ‘I want the space to offer beautiful comfort and the element of curiosity. A place that is fun, but envelopes you and makes you feel at ease and at home,’’ adds Adam.

In the salon, his personal favourite products will be exhibited, from brands like Diptyque Tuberose Candles, Saint Fragrances, Lisa Eldridge lipsticks and dog leads by Fetch and Follow and family-friendly apparel by a playground. In addition, there will be a ghd Style Bar; from tonging lessons to hair polishing, you can find out how to get the most out of your appliances in a relaxed and casual, no-appointment- necessary setting.

In short: never a dull moment at Adam Reed London! “I have tried to take all of the things that I love from service, to product, to design and incorporate them all into one big happy place that gives you great hair and a big smile on your face,” says our man.
We love the idea and the concept and we wish you every success, Adam!
