We are loving this charming collaboration La Capsule formed by combining hairdressers with another craft: the plisseur. Produced by Le Lab Haute Coiffure Francaise, La Capsule shows hair worked like a raw material, pleated like a textile, folded like parchment and heated for time to create innovative textures and a unique 3D effect.
The Plisseur
The Plisseur translates to English as ‘the pleater’ in drapery. Think Issey Miyake and you’ll get the vibe. The concept of Le Lab in creating this collection was to reveal the special skill of the plisseur – a craft that is almost extinct today despite its long history. The use of colour has enhanced the texture, and really emphasises this skill. It’s just intriguing. The effect of movement, deliberately blurring and softening the images with shadows gives this an ethereal, time-travelling quality. Something rather avant-garde although reminiscent of actual techniques. Very clever. Rather beautiful.
