Some of the more provocative French creatives in recent times provided the inspiration for CloSer, a collection by the Billi Currie Collective Team. The looks in the photographs are sultry and contemplative of texture, movement and how to conjure empowering shapes. The colours are rustic tones, creamy blondes, deep pinks, lilacs and bronzes. The whole is thoughtful yet dynamic.
Inspiration for CloSer
A starting point for the concept behind CloSer is a collection of work called ‘The Woven Child’ by French artist Louise Bourgeois. She was a provocative, surrealist artist and sculptor, who you might recognise most famously for her 35ft spider placed at the Tate Gallery in 2000. For The Woven Child, Louise worked with fabric and textiles, to consider the modernist movement of feminism and nudity, working with texture to create a sense of intimacy.Equally, the Jean-Paul Gaultier scandalous and eccentric ‘Fashion Freak Show’ led the development of CloSer down a more sensual route, where shape and form are important.
