We’ve championed the work of Haircuts4Homeless (H4H), the registered charity set up by veteran hairdresser Stewart Roberts, to help provide hair services for those in need. The H4H works by setting up a network of volunteers who operate pop-up salons around the UK. The charity relies on volunteers but also urgently requires funding. This is where you can help!
Help please!
H4H has devised an Ambassador Programme which allows every hairdresser, team or salon to support their work. It is a new way for hair salons, barbers and spas throughout the UK to help raise funds and bring awareness of the work of H4H to all clients. Participating salons will be asked to add £1 to the charge for selected H4H services on their menu, which will then go towards a haircut or service for a person in need.
Give a good hair day
You’ve probably noticed coffee shops suggesting you add a coffee to your order which essentially you pay for, but it’s then given to the next customer in need who can’t pay. Or restaurants selling ‘burnt’ chips which you pay for but don’t receive. It’s fundraising in a way that isn’t onerous. Now you can do the same and give a good hair day to someone through your service menu.
Simply ass the H4H logo to selected services – maybe something you’re keen to promote like giving exposure to a junior stylist or upselling a backwash treatment which adds £1 to the usual price. With the £1 donation, H4H will be able to fund not just a haircut, but a kind gesture that lets a homeless person know that people really care.
Founder of H4H Stewart Roberts says, “One of people’s basic rights is for them to feel good about themselves and H4H has always been about helping people to achieve that. The hairdressing industry is known for its generosity and willingness to help people and now there is another way to get behind this great cause and empower more homeless people to reclaim the self-worth and dignity they deserve.”
Stewart adds, “Whether it’s a little or lot, the ongoing support, including from the new Ambassador Programme all counts towards the ‘capital’ of H4H which enables us to deliver, grow & develop this service for the homeless.”
