Joining the Summer discussion on how hair trends play out this season, we predict a colour riot! “Summer is coming and the S/S17 shows inspired sticking to a super-bright summer colour scheme when it comes to hair,” say Harriet Franks and Robbie McPhilomey at Blue Tit salon. They showed us the picture above as a perfect example. They cite how rainbow-coloured dreadlocks were spotted at Marc Jacobs. Where as shades of lavender, lilac, and violet dominated the runway at Gypsy Sport. “These Rainbow Bright colours are a must have for festival season,” they counsel, ” and will ensure you stand out from the crowd.
For those not ready to brave an all-over colour permanently, wash-in, wash-out shades are a good go-to for a non-permanent, creative colour solution”. At Yorkshire salon group Westrow, co-founder and director Steve Rowbottom specifically predicts neon nights, grown-up pigtails, and beachy waves are the top three trends for this year’s festival-goers.
We agree, having spotted Kylie Jenner sporting the highlighter hue at Coachella. An abundance of ladies loving the low-effort braided look, and the ubiquitous favourite – natural undone waves! As well as the brights, we say pastel pinks and blues remain prevalent too. Noticing colourful strands woven into models’ Chanel Iman and Josephine Skriver’s festo-braids. Watch out for more colour pops throughout the holidays.
To see how such street looks can be reflected in salon colour work, browse the Westrow Street Lane collection below, alongside the celebrity versions.
Blue Tit have since put predicted SS17 trends into action at the last ever Secret Garden Party! They held a pop-up salon where scalp braiding and 90’s glitter buns proved popular with festival crowd. Eyes below for a selection of the festival looks:
