A dramatic collection, Velvet Rebellion explores a collision of eras and attitudes… where Marie Antoinette meets punk! Love it! Pauline McCabe says she was Inspired by a visit to the Marie Antoinette exhibition in London. The raw, contemporary energy of Dreaming Eli at London Fashion Week. Her vision was to reinterpret historical femininity through a modern, rebellious lens.
Velvet Rebellion
At its core, the collection balances softness and strength. Delicate, romantic textures—sheer fabrics, corsetry, lace and powdery tones—are contrasted with harder elements, sharper silhouettes and an underlying sense of disruption. The aesthetic plays between hard lines and soft edges, creating tension within each look.
Hair direction reflects this duality—structured yet undone, refined yet imperfect. Shapes feel considered but never overly polished, echoing a sense of beauty that has been lived in rather than constructed. Makeup follows a similar narrative, with diffused skin, flushed tones and subtle imperfections that enhance emotion and authenticity.
