Christophe Gaillet

We often ask when hair become art? [Tribu-te Magazine Autumn 23] This collection, Anamorphosis by Christophe Gaillet raises the question again. This is a beautiful abstract interpretation of hair to create an art project. Just as an artist using paint, charcoal or inks might do.

Christophe tells us: “I was totally inspired by art, but above all by two incredible, visionary artists (Caravaggio and Man Ray), two eras, and two styles (surrealism and realism), even though everything was at odds. We wanted to create this beautiful alchemy, and the result is astonishing.

The creative process was very important.  Christophe explained the desire to harmonise volumes, textures and colours. “A very precise moodboard was presented to the photographer so that he could highlight each interpretation. The choice of our mannequin was decisive, so that the poses would be masterful.”
