Now in an exciting move to underline how to much they focus on helping businesses to develop, Phenix has initiated the Phenix Salon Suites Grant in the UK. And the first ever recipient is named as Derby-based Jade Samantha Hair. Jade runs a new natural hair care studio and this inaugural award brought together members of the local Phenix business community.
Meet Jade
Jade’s journey into hairdressing began when she took her first job in a Derby salon at the age of 14. After completing an apprenticeship with Mark Scott, she built a successful career across numerous salons. She became accomplished in expertise with braids, weaves, extensions, and keratin-based treatments. But over time, Jade realised her true calling was rooted in wellness and natural haircare.
“Everything in my life is rooted in a natural lifestyle, and yet I was offering chemical treatments that didn’t align with who I am,” Jade says. “I did the research, I found my niche, and now I focus 100% on hair and scalp health. No chemicals. Just nourishment, alignment, and care.”
Now operating from her own suite at Phenix Jade offers chemical-free treatments, including restorative hair and scalp rituals using clean, conscious brands, as well as her own formulations. Her suite in the Derby Phenix Salon Suites building offers clients a private, one to one experience with a peaceful, spa like atmosphere, a significant shift from the busy, chair rental salons she worked in previously.
The Phenix Grant
The Phenix Grant is a new initiative launched by Phenix Salon Suites to discover and support emerging talent in the UK’s hair and beauty industry. With more than £100,000 being invested into independent professionals across the country, the grant provides winners with a full year of rent free operation in a luxury Phenix suite. They’ll also receive personalised business mentorship and ongoing creative and commercial training – a package worth over £30,000. As Jade’s story shows, Phenix’s mission is to empower creatives to grow on their own terms, without the stress of traditional salon ownership.
“We created the Phenix Grant to give passionate, creative professionals like Jade the support they need to take that leap,” says John Gillespie, Managing Director of Phenix Salon Suites UK/Europe. “It’s not just about funding, it’s about embedding them in a community that values independence, supports their growth, and celebrates their unique talents.” As a hairdresser, John is well placed to make this happen.
“I never wanted a big salon with staff and stress,” adds Jade. “Phenix felt like a dream, a supportive, professional space that allowed me to just focus on my clients and my creativity.”
