Olaplex tells us that while traditional hair oils often focus on surface-level gloss alone, the new innovation was designed to deliver hydration and reparative benefits alongside reflective shine in one effortless, lightweight mist. The key is that this is a versatile formula meaning it can be used two ways. Pick up as a refresh for second- or third-day hair. Or use as part of a styling routine for added softness, smoothness, heat protection, and lasting hydration.
“Many people think shine starts with oil alone, but the real secret is hydration and a healthy cuticle,” says Lavinia Popescu, Chief Science and Innovation Officer at Olaplex. “We wanted to create a weightless formula that replenishes hydration while smoothing the cuticle. Our patented bi-phase technology combines a reparative serum with lightweight oils to deliver lasting softness and reflective shine. By matching the serum phase to the hair’s natural pH, we minimize any cuticle lift that moisture can typically cause. Plus, the ultra-lightweight oil phase helps flash off excess water, trapping in moisture to prevent frizz. It creates a beautiful, synergistic effect that leaves hair soft and smooth without ever weighing it down.”
How it works
The shake-to-activate formula fuses a reparative serum enriched with an Amino Acid Complex and Olaplex Bond-Building Technology™ with a blend of lightweight shine-enhancing oils. These include kalahari melon seed oil and kukui nut oil. Once activated, the two phases work together to instantly revive dry hair with lasting softness and reflective shine while delivering up to 96 hours of hydration and helping reduce breakage by 75%. The formula also provides heat protection up to 450ºF (232ºC).
Use daily by spritzing the ultra-fine mist across the hair for a hand-free application which isn’t heavy or flattening. Or use as a mist on second day hair for a quick refresh. Maybe apply during a styling routine for added polish and protection.
