Enjoy this beautiful collection from Mads Ruus, the academy manager and educator at the Blue Tit group in London. Mads is a Danish hairdresser based in the UK capital, in for this shoot, he took inspiration from Scandinavian folklore. The vibe is calm, and Mads brings a minimalist influence from his homeland to meld with the busy, edgy London lifestyle. Each look is inspired to tell a tale and evoke the past with the present and the future. Take your time…

Meet Mads
Mads Runs is educated in Denmark, having become a hairdresser 16 years ago starting the journey in a family-friendly salon in his hometown of Horsens. He’d originally wanted to be a 3D animator and design games, but the experience of school hung heavy on his shoulders and the prospect of more studying didn’t appeal. A friend suggested hairdressing and it took four years to reach the Danish equivalent of the NVQ qualification. Mads says: “I didn’t know until I tried it, that hairdressing was going to be my career!”
With a few years salon experience at home, Mads then headed for London and more training to attain a senior stylist position. Five years ago he joined the Blue Tit group, and today works alongside director Tom Warr who gave Mads free rein to create this collection. He takes up the story: “Blue Tit came up and I did a lot of research into what Blue Tit could offer as a company. At my old place I ended up getting into education and led training nights teaching the assistant. Blue Tit had an academy which then became an aim for me to be a part of! I’ve now been with Blue Tit for over five years and I can proudly say it’s the best place I’ve worked.
“I started as stylist inbetween the Dalston and the East Village branch, until I moved to Portobello… I’ve slowly worked myself in to be a big part of the Blue Tit academy team as the academy manager and educator, teaching our assistants in cutting but also working as part of the leadership team for the company which has been an amazing journey and still is!

“I’ve been lucky and worked very hard to be a part of our creative team, which have given me the opportunity to travel and work and represent Blue Tit London across and outside the UK as a part of the O-way global creative directing team. Here I showcase and teach both cutting and colour together with the rest of the Academy team
“This year I’ve had the opportunity to create my own shoot, with the trust from the Blue Tit directors Andi Hinteregger and Matt Gebbie and guidance from academy director Tom Warr creating my very first and own collection – it won’t be the last!”
