Hair Pieces: The Big One 2022 is going to be one helluva show! Just look at the line-up revealed this week. Tickets are on sale at the Early Bird price of £60 until next Friday so be quick. (General admission will be £75). Click HERE

Building on the success and acclaim of the launch last year, this new concept in shows from Tribu-te Magazine is engaging and exciting. Presented in the beautiful surroundings of the Battersea Arts Centre – very Tribu-te in style and prestige – a line-up of great presenters and hairdressing craftspeople will entertain the audience in the style of immersive theatre. Visitors will have two hours to walk through the great hall and surrounding corridors discovering their favourite hairdressers, watching them work and being able to ask questions, film, converse as they please. Then at 9pm all gather for the awards ceremony of The Big One 2022 with a grand finale parade of models.

Line-up

Sally and Jamie lead their team

Brooks&Brooks: Sally and Jamie Brooks are working with their Art Team. Welcomed at many a Tribu-te Show, we know the Brooks&Brooks family to be utterly mesmerising in their hairdressing skills – both Sally and Jamie learned the skills to make a great show from their time at Trevor Sorbie, and have gone on to finesse their own style of showpersonship which they pass to their own team. Expect them to be thoroughly relatable and to deliver beautiful, intricate and stunning looks

HOB Creative Team: Akin Konizi is the international creative director at HOB Salons and hugely accomplished in creative, educational and salon hairdressing. He brings his creative team to Hair Pieces and we think you’re going to relish the opportunity to see them right next to you, cutting and styling their own inimitable looks – strong, perfectly balanced, and inspirational.

Bebop join the line-up

Bebop Salon: Chloe Herve and Pont Smith are committed to the bebop #wemakewearablehair ethos. Combining years of experience in fashion and hair education with a devoted passion to London’s creative scene. Pont has developed an innovative approach to hairstyling that is at the forefront of the salon’s spirit, and Chloe is a razor-cutting expert. We’re thrilled to bring them to a Tribu-te event for the first time.

Stunning work by Anne Veck

Anne Veck is one of the most interesting creative hairdressers on the UK scene. From salon owner, to centre stage via many an awards ceremony, Anne is famous for her avant-garde and experimental work. For Hair Pieces she will demonstrate her brilliant ways working with Afro/Black hair specifically – expect drama and style with exquisitely worked looks.

One of Rebecca Jacque’s winning photographs

Rebecca Jacques is the current holder of The Big One Trophy. She scooped The Up&Coming One trophy in 2021 and, with the most marks from any category winner, was awarded the overall trophy. At only 26 years old, Rebecca is a star already. We can’t wait to see what she brings to this live event – it will be well-crafted and dynamic, that’s for sure.

InKolour

InKolour: hair as art

InKolour: Mark Francome Painter & Jack Eames: Sharing their project called InKolour,  hairdresser Mark and photographer Jack are joining us to look at how hair can be explored more in the digital world. They will be taking you on a journey from hairstyle to art piece with a blend of practical work, digitalisation and film. Fascinating and beautiful at once. To find out more about Jack Eames photographer, click HERE

Hair Pieces format

Borrowing from immersive theatre, the thinking behind the Hair Pieces show is to give fabulous hairdressers their own space to work, while the audience moves around as they please. It gives visitors the freedom to spend time with the presenters they prefer, while allowing the hairdressers more time to create rather than a short stage presentation. There are no platforms, no barriers – as a visitor you can get up close to the presenters to see and talk about what they doing.

Hairdressers as Artists

Adding to the sense of theatre, we have invited three hairdressers to present exhibitions at the venue for Hair Pieces. Exploring the world of Hairdressers as Artists, we are delighted to offer an occasion for such creativity to be shared:

Trevor Sorbie will be hosting at Battersea

Trevor Sorbie: Returning to his first-love of art, in recent years Trevor Sorbie has picked up his pen and paint to create some really rather good art work! He’ll be present in Battersea to show you what he finds inspiring.

Jason Miller: Director at Charlie Miller

Jason Miller: For years Jason has been producing abstract artwork using oil paints – we’ve admired them on the walls of the family salon at Charlie Miller, now we are proud to show some at Hair Pieces.

Mark Woolley: Electric

Mark Woolley: Hairdresser and owner of the Electric group, Mark has always also been working on his modern art pieces. From collage to graphics, you’ll love his style as he brings favourites to show you at Battersea.

Sponsors are vital in bringing these events together, and we are grateful for the support of ours! Thanks to L’Oréal Professionnel, Oribe, Schwarzkopf Professional, Avlon Europe, and R+Co

The Big One

At 9pm gather with the audience in the great hall for The Big One awards ceremony which will be finished with a parade of models from the evening. With 9 trophies to give out, it’s an electric atmosphere. Making this an evening never to forget! See you there?
