Jack Howard The Salon is three floors of colour devotion from one of the most passionate colourists in our hairdressing universe. Located in Georgetown, Washington DC where Brit-born Jack now lives, this new reveal of an existing salon is the embodiment of Jack’s journey to become one of the most sought-after hairdressers. Something that worked, is now elevated to be premium, exciting and sophisticated.
Jack’s own global reputation for working with super brands (currently L’Oréal Pro Color Artist) is to make colour relatable and desirable to both clients and professionals alike. The words to describe the salon, just as importantly describe Jack himself, we say! Here’s why…
Look inside
At Jack Howard The Salon, you know you’re welcome with a large ‘arms-open’ reception area. Check in, browse the retail, take a moment before the visit begins. The clean lines and monochrome palette are functional and modern, and the fuss-free use of space emphasises the purpose of your visit. This hair appointment will be ‘the business’ in the best possible way.
The key notes of the entire salon decor, are to be light-filled, spacious with texture.
We said it was the incarnation of Jack! He bosses colour in the most reassuring, definite yet positive way. His manner is to offer focus and fun in equal measure. His team and the premises echo this beautifully.
The Styling Studio is a natural-light filled space. Again the mood is to be uncluttered, comfortable and spacious with the colour palette now including light-wood flooring and tan/burnt-bronze upholstery on the styling chairs. We love the drama of the mirrored panels along one wall, and floor-to-ceiling photography is a vibe.
A Colour Studio echos the mood again and is clear about the purpose. We are here “to do colour, see colour and have colour applied” says Jack. Backwashes are located close to the chairs, the lighting is designed to be flattering yet helpful to the colourist above all. The Colour Bar is tidy, too! Jack wanted this whole sweep of salon to feel emotional. Somewhere to whip up dreams and turn them into reality.
Bravo to Jack Howard
There are three floors, 22 chairs and 8 backwashes in this tardis of a salon. How Jack has fit it all inside is a measure of his magic! This is an elegant, thoughtful salon which speaks clearly of a love for the profession of being a colourist and a hairstylist. We love it. Time to invest in a visit perhaps!
