Hair: Untold Stories

In Uncategorized by Karishma

Hair: Untold Stories is an exhibition, now showing at the Weston Park Museum in Sheffield, having previously been a hit at the Horniman museum in London. We loved it then, and we’re delighted to see it moving around the UK! You’ve got until Sun 29 October 2023 to get to the Yorkshire showing (Weston Park is right in the middle of the city)  and is worth visiting as the entire exhibition is devoted to exploring the deeper meaning of hair in history and culture.

Hair as a material

Hair: Untold Stories weaves together the work of artists, filmmakers and designers to examine the significant relationship between hair and society. Of course we know this, but it’s brilliant to see the point being made to visitors that hair has such an impact on our appearances and relationships with others. The exhibition helps the visitor explore the concept of hair as a material, and this includes looking at jewellery, clothing, armour and environmental protection.

Go with the whole team

Go alone, or take your team! This could be a great team-bonding activity as well as an exciting learning opportunity and a chance to explore the deeper meaning behind what you do as a hairdresser. Ensure your whole team knows about the exhibition, and if they can travel to Sheffield, tell them to get tickets! This is a chance to see artists and historians exploring a concept that is crucial to the hair industry and may reflect greatly upon your own work.
