Hair By SchwarzkopfPro is a new initiative to inspire hairdressers. It is created by, and for the hairdressing community. You’ll love it!
Presented primarily in an impressively heavyweight, coffee-table type publication, in Hair By Schwarzkopf you’ll find a carefully curated collection of stories and craftsmanship celebrating modern hair culture and inspiration ‘for every you’.
For every you
The concept is born from the observation that no two people working in hairdressing are the same. Each of us is an individual with our own stories, and our own styles, challenges and ambitions. We can take inspiration from each other, then use similar tools and techniques but always with an outcome unique to ourselves.
Launched this Spring by Schwarzkopf and released simultaneously worldwide, the book and the media surrounding it is eminently engaging and visually very exciting. Browsing the pages, you’ll discover commentary and notes from international hairdressers, celebrities and tastemakers. Arresting full-page imagery is created alongside hairdressers all over the world such as Shy & Flo in Switzerland, Javier Diaz in Mexico, Jack Martin in California, Linda Lehto in Finland and, and, and… you get the gist. This is an eclectic, inclusive body of work that shares stories, ideas and techniques.
Relevant to change and evolution everywhere, the content is firmly rooted in pop culture. You’ll find all hair types represented but more than this, Hair By SchwarzkopfPro presents features exploring how style and creative expression in other media – think music, art and fashion – also work with hair and with the ways of using hair to express individuality.
Inspiration: Nick Irwin
“We have to be for every hairdresser out there,” says Nick Irwin, Schwarzkopf’s Global Ambassador. He’s the main protagonist for the project to create the Hair By SchwarkzkopfPro platform. Nick worked on the shoot and compilation with photographer and documenter Rankin. They have a strong history of working together through Hunger Magazine – which is referenced in the design aesthetic. Nick explains how it was important to them both to bring their vision to life in London. He sees the city as the cultural melting pot for the creative world. And to ensure this was a collaborative project. “Community, coming together, is when the spark might happen,” says Nick.
Inspiration for every you
Hair By SchwarzkopfPro is purposely referred to as a platform which might be discovered as a book, but also as film and media soundbites. The creators intention is to make it an annual release of content that embrace cultures from around the world. Uniting hair work, make-up, use of products and being educational. Reflecting what is happening authentically – in the moment.
Hair By SchwarzkopfPro is not about trends, rather is a gear change that fits better the hairdressing model. Inside you’ll find all the information, inspiration and tools where everyone feels equal wherever they are in the world or in their hairdressing journey.
“You’ve got to have things that are bite-size, faster information, and things that really do need to be detailed. We need to maintain standards, there will be some form of curation so that we open up to all kinds of inspiration but keep a focus on the desire to inspire with beautiful, interesting and relatable.” Nicky Irwin.
