Green Mirror

It’s not a game, but creating an app as an engaging way to talk about sustainability is a bright idea! Kao Salon Division has launched the Green Mirror as part of its dynamic plans to promote sustainability in salons.

Green gaming

Tackling climate change is an urgent issue, so by varying the ways of delivering this message makes sense. We’re interested to see the new digital game from the makers of leading brands Goldwell, KMS and Oribe – it’s well worth a look.

Energy consumption, waste and other emissions: these are the things that all industries must pay attention to if humankind is to successfully tackle climate change. Kao Salon Division has opted for a highly innovative approach with the Green Mirror – an online game specifically developed to educate salon owners and their teams in how they can successfully address sustainability issues in their salon. The edutainment game designed in the successful escape room gaming format is released this month. Here’s a peek at the details:

Online, on message

What energy consumption do hair straighteners, dryers, hairmasters and other typical equipment have? And how can you save hair colour through exact application? These and other questions are part of the new Green Mirror game, and require you to answer before proceeding. Whether you know in advance, or learn through plain, the point is to show how relevant such issues are to your business, your services and all our futures.

Like in a fairytale, Green Mirror, namesake protagonist of the game, comes to life in the playing area, a digital hairdressing salon, and accompanies the players throughout – sometimes as a game leader, sometimes as a tipster, sometimes as a whimsical commentator.

Educating and supporting salons to make environmentally friendly choices for their salons is one of the key pillars of our ESG commitment”, explains Dr. Elmar Mussenbrock, global Director Sustainability at Kao Salon Division. “Instead of sharing information in classic ways such as brochures and static content on websites, we decided for a highly modern, interactive digital format that offers not only a deeper learning experience but also a lot of fun.

The “Green Mirror” is a novelty in Kao Salon Division´s education offering as well as in the salon industry. From April 2022, the virtual salon with the “Green Mirror” will invite teams of two to five players to enter, play and learn.
