Figaro Awards 2022

Wherever we are in the world, a hairdressing awards event is high-energy and the Figaro Awards in recent days was no exception. Tribu-te was delighted to attend and enjoy a fabulous show and presentation ceremony.

Figaro Awards 2022

Figaro Awards: 13th edition

Organised by Club Fígaro, with Revlon Professional as main sponsor and Salón Look IEMA Madrid (trade show) as official partner,  the Figaro Awards are the Spanish Hairdressing Awards, and clearly held in great esteem by the country’s hairdressers, as well as by the world’s media. In October, Tribu-te Magazine’s UK publisher Nicky Pope attended the gathering as she was invited on the prestigious jury. She tells us that the standard of work for 2022 was really high and the format of the evening truly inspiring. Read on for why!

Figaro Awards 2022

Jury: L-R: Tony Rizzo: Angela Navarro; Angelo Seminara; Nicky Pope; Alexis Continente

Along with fellow judges, Nicky attended the event in Madrid to meet 15 finalists across 5 categories; each was invited to create a live show of the models featured in their photographic collections. This makes the Figaro Awards a 360º challenge; create looks in the studio, then film them, and now present them in a live catwalk show. “It’s a massive challenge to recreate what looks great in a photographic collection onto a live show and the work that goes into this must be respected. I absolutely loved the way each finalist met the task in hand, it was really entertaining and uplifting to watch,” says Nicky. See the winners looks below…

Hosted by Sergi Bancells, Club Figaro’s International Ambassador, alongside Felicitas Ordás who is President, the evening was a real fiesta of talent from commercial to highly avant-garde. We must mention the truly spectacular models from Rafael Bueno for his collection Crystal Seabed. Watch how this translated to the catwalk:

Bravo to them all . Of course, the heros of the event are the organisers at Club Figaro who put together a truly community minded event with creativity and shared love of hair at its heart. Last word to Sergi Bancells who wants to highlight the importance of the Fígaro Awards and creative professionals to inspire young people and show them that hairdressing is much more than it may seem. “It is our responsibility to open all the doors and break down all the walls to make every day more visible how wonderful this profession is (…) because the new generations will be the protagonists who will take our beloved hairdressing further and further, higher and higher and more beautiful”.
