Embracing the spirit of positivity, we notice a big upsurge in the number of great, new competitions opening up to hairdresser at all levels, with the Joico Color Talent event catching our eye. Here is the chance to join in the hunt searching for the very best in hair coloir creativity within the Joico community.

Joico Color Talent

This is the inaugural competition for 2022, and celebrates creative vision, exceptional cutting and colouring skills, and the ability to create a sensational image. However, no professional photography is required, just a smartphone and incredible hairdressing ability! True story… 

In the UK, you can enter via Lacey’s Hair Supplies, Salon Conceptsand Alan Howard. The competition is open to all qualified hairdressers and hair colourists who use Joico colour products in their business, and the competition is set to be fierce. 

Rules of engagement

Joico color Talent

Entrants must create a magazine-cover-worthy image using clothing, makeup and accessories to enhance the overall look and hair. Taken against a white background with no filters, entries must also include a before photo and a video along with the completed entry form. There is also the need to provide a brief outline on the inspiration behind the look, the methods used to create the cut and colour (including details on colour choice, formulas and techniques) plus details on how the look is styled and finished. Don’t forget to include which Joico products were used. Three categories ensure this brand-new colour competition has something for everyone. The categories and criteria are as follows:  

Short – a commercial look showing skilled cutting and beautiful color on hair that is above the collar bone

Long – a commercial look showing skilled cutting and beautiful color on hair that is below the collar bone

Creative – let your imagination run wild on any length of hair, demonstrating your skills and creativity with colour.

The prize is… 

The competition will be judged virtually by a panel of industry leaders, with entries closing at midnight on June 30th 2022. There’s an array of fantastic prizes to be won including the opportunity to work with the Marc Antoni Group of a photoshoot; a Colour Course at Joico; a set of Wings Scissors; and the chance to work alongside the Marc Antoni Group on the show which will be presented at the final. Winners being announced at the first ever Color Talent Celebration Event to be held in September 2022.  Joico Ambassador for Europe, the UK and Ireland, Bruno Marc Giamattei says; ‘Joico Color Talent is an exciting competition set to celebrate incredible colorists from across the UK within the JOICO family. An opportunity for hairdressers to demonstrate skill, be creative and create an inspirational image. It’s fantastic to see the brand celebrate creativity in this way!’.
