Blooming marvellous

There’s such a buzz around the imminent arrival of the brand Keune as they open their first UK-based academy in London any day now! We’re all revved up for the opening of House of Keune. And the reveal of the new local ambassador line-up is exciting, too. Jo McKay is one of our favourite colourists and joins Keune as Master Colour Ambassador. Aussie-born and well travelled, Jo is a firecracker educator and a brave and accomplished technical specialist – certainly adjust your sets to follow her!

Keune says: “In her new position, Jo will be demonstrating all the possibilities of Keune colour at its best, supporting the knowledge and skills of the hairdresser through education for the brand, while running a column in the House of Keune by Bloom to service her clients & supporting training and career development for the Bloom team in London, and directing the creative image of the Bloom salon group’s colour offering.”

Then just last week, one of UK hairdressing’s ‘treasures’ announced he is the UK Creative Ambassador – step forward Andrew Barton. An erstwhile British Hairdresser of the Year and master of the high street – his TV and show credits bear witness – Andrew has decades of experience creating signature collections and heading up product launches.

We are incredibly excited for Andrew to join the Keune family,” says Darren Potter, general manager of Keune UK. “His artistry and skillset ensure he is one of the leading voices in the industry and he shares our passion for creativity, authenticity and self-expression — with unparalleled enthusiasm and a work ethic to match. He will play an integral role in our strategic creative approach and further enhancing our customer experiences in an authentic and meaningful way.

Finishing the jigsaw, is JR Slane as Creative Director and Salon Partner who heads up the salon based within the Keune head office, and named Bloom. JR has extensive industry experience, having undergone his formal education at Vidal Sassoon, where he quickly established a reputation as a leading creative and educator and has travelled the world to share his knowledge with the wider hairdressing industry. He’s been recruiting and training a team to work at Bloom (part of the Bloom Salon Group). Both Jo McKay and Andrew Barton will be seeing clients at Bloom, too.

Jo McKay “Coming from a family of hairdressers, I love the fact that Keune is a family-owned company with such heritage. I’m so excited to start my role and join Keune on its new journey in the UK

Keune’s new flagship training academy – a 5,700 square foot, state-of-the-art development in Holborn, Central London – which will boast a coffee shop & bakery, Keune UK headquarters and the House of Keune by Bloom, a 29-seat luxurious salon opening in September 2022.
