Earlier this Spring we brought you a fabulous collection from Alfaparf Milano’s Architects of Design team (see HERE). Now it’s time to reveal the AOD squad for 2024! They have a lot to live up to
AOD – Alfaparf Milano Professional
Getting you up to speed, we remind you dear read that the Architects of Design (AOD) is an elite education programme run by the Italian master brand Alfaparf Milano under the tutelage of great hairdressers. Piero Gentile is Technical Education Director at Alfaparf Milano Professional and explains it this way: “Our 12-month ‘Architects of Design’ programme is an inspiring journey for hairdressers, offering them the unique opportunity to learn from diverse artists across our European academies, including Rome, London, Barcelona, and Dublin. Participants will explore cutting edge techniques, innovative colouring, fashion, precision cutting, and commercial looks for salons. The training culminates with a photo shoot showcasing their creativity, teamwork and vision for the future.”
On your marks
The 2024 programme kicked off recently with a two-day event in the Alfaparf Milano Professional Academy in Dublin. Here we met the 10 new members from across Ireland and the UK. Hello to: Sarah Lyons (Sarah Lyons Hair & Beauty Bar); Zeta Russell (Hairitage); Nicole McCormac (The Hair Company); Maria Mallon (Studio M); Ruth Byrne (Blakes Hair Salon); Dee Conroy (Redz); Shauna Kehoe (Sean Taaffe); Mitchell Gough (G&E McIntyre); Steve Turner (Six Salon); and Tracie Webb (Fatal Attraction).
The programme’s content focuses on the multi disciplines of being a hairdresser in 2024 and beyond. The posse of 10 will learn advanced cutting techniques, master colouring techniques, how to stay updated on trends, enhance professional skills, receive expert instruction, and build their confidence. You want more? Well, they hey will also learn presentation skills, communication techniques, how to master client consultations, as well as get feedback and support for their professional development, get to experiment with creative freedom, learn about social media and content creation, as well as brand development.
Widely travelled
The Dublin event started with a social media masterclass from Brand Ambassador Coia Dahill, and was followed by a trip to the Guinness Storehouse where they explored the Guinness Story in the Iconic Guinness building. The following day Alfaparf Milano Professional team members Beatrice Moate and Piero Gentile taught how to execute the perfect bob and the perfect colour on three live models.
The one-year AOD programme is aimed at passionate, enthusiastic senior stylists wanting to enhance their skills in cutting and colouring techniques. Once chosen, the Architects of Design members travel to multiple of the brand’s academies across Europe to be mentored by outstanding stylists from the UK, Ireland, Spain and Italy. Next stop is Rome we’re told.
Result!
At the end of the programme each AOD member gets to showcase their talent on stage, as well as take part in a photoshoot in Autumn 2025. We look forward to seeing the results …
