We love a name that does what it says. Students of architecture are taught to dream of what can be, and the Alfaparf Milano Professional Architects of Design team does this, too! Gathering in London for a photoshoot recently, the AOD team was celebrating their 12-month long programme under the eye of great mentors. And the resulting collection serves as an official graduation.

Collaborating on a moodpboard of colour formulations, cuts, and style the AOD team worked together to create multiple looks. UK-based Piero Gentile, the brand’s technical educator, oversaw the creative process. The day ended with their graduation from the programme where each team member was all presented with certificates by David Donnellan on behalf of Alfaparf Milano Professional.

Who are AOD?
The elite one-year AOD education programme is an opportunity for ten talented and creative hairdressers to be mentored by both national and international stylists. The education venues for the brand are inspiring, with Alfaparf Milano Professional academies in Ireland, the UK, Rome, and Milan.
An impressive line-up of mentors included Paul Stafford (Northern Ireland); Alan Keville (Ireland); Alessandro Fratini (Italy); Richard Ashforth (UK); Alan Austin Smith (UK); Ramiro Mata (Spain); Oni Quadrino and Emanuele Vona (Italy); and Piero Gentile (UK).
“I really enjoyed watching the creative journey the team went through over the two days we were together in the London Academy,” says Piero. “It has been fantastic to watch them grow over the last year, and to see their talent grow and develop. The great thing about this shoot is that it was all about teamwork, which is so crucial for anyone working in a creative industry like ours.”
The hairdressers from the UK and Ireland chosen to be part of the Architects of Design team for 2023 were Wayne Chartley, Pont Smith, Ben Newby, Michael Paraliki, Maria Haberlin, Triona Hollian, Grace Marie Bardon, Jolene McCarthy, Gillian Woods, and Lynsey Cleland.
