A look inside Palette & Bristle

In Uncategorized by Nicky

A new salon called Palette & Bristle in Hove, Sussex is aimed at business professionals who enjoy the minimalist vibe with plenty of nature-inspired textures that feel homely yet practical. The name reminds us of the artistic integrity of the team who work here!

Creating his new salon, owner David Cassidy drew on his experience working for the global group Toni&Guy, as well as a local Brighton salon called Hooch. Having discovered the joys of each, it was time, he says, to launch a salon that truly represented his individuality. And

we love it.

David puts it this way: “It’s a big space, we’ve created somewhere warm and welcoming. It’s a stylish space with attention to detail and nice, considered design. It feels a bit like a private members club over a salon, we’ve avoided any obvious salon clichés design-wise and made it our own with individual touches.

Light and airy does it

At Palette & Bristle the interior is thoughtful and sustainable, too. A natural lime wash paint throughout is breathable and non-toxic (Bauwerk is the brand), and the colour palette deliberately neutral. Having been an art gallery prior to the refurbishment, David kept the lighting already in place. It is well lit and hair colour looks ‘true’ in every setting. A dining table is surrounded by hair swatches and framed pieces of jewellery – a nod to the aesthetic of craftwork.

The West-facing windows are glorious, allowing plenty of clean light to flood in – a massive plus for photos and selfies, too. While a more focused lighting at the back in the shampoo area offers a more subdued atmosphere.

Reception decompression

David preferred to keep the reception area open and filled with comfortable sofa and chairs, magazines to read, creating a decompression zone where clients can sit down, check their phones read a book, have a moment of peace before their appointment. A little hint of gold detailing in the space suggest luxury, but nothing too taxing on the eye. It’s super calm.

“Our clients don’t want to feel like they’re stepping onto a conveyor belt,” says

David. “We don’t rush and we give everyone the space and time they need.

In the styling area, Ayala stying chairs at four stations are set to echo the mood of taking ones time. Nobody can feel crammed in.

At the backwash area, the mood is similarly calm with the focus on client comfort. The deep and welcoming reclining chairs are the stars indeed. Again, the intention is to remind you that while a working space, this is a bit of home, too.

Going with the flow and tapping into the mood of the modern working person, we think the look at Palette & Bristle is charming. Well done to David
