Papercut by Jude McEwan

In Uncategorized by Karishma

A compelling and arresting collection by Jude McEwan – a Brit based abroad – has won her the AHIA Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year 2023 in Australia, and we love what we see. You can positively sense the hours of work that have gone into creating this dramatic work. Papercut is beautifully photographed by Andrew O’Toole to convey a sensitivity and ethereal quality yet allow the strength of the shapes and dynamic attitude to remain.

Hair as art

Last year we spent time pondering the question, when is hair art? [Tribu-te Magazine Autumn 2022] prompted by a concept collection of multi-media imagery from Jack Eames and Mark Francome Painter for their Inkolour collection

It’s really interesting to see uber talented creatives move from representing hair as seen and worn, in projects which really push to explore both creativity and understanding of hair as part of self-awareness. If you have something to say, then hair is fabulous medium. We say that it’s vital we enjoy and celebrate team of collaborators pushing each other to better standards and provoke questions. It is what will keep hair as art.
