Changing the world, one blonde at a time! We’re loving what the Barbie film is doing for colour services on blondes. And no, it’s not just a fad for a film release. While blondes are always front of mind in the Summer months.. the focus on the iconic Barbie figure is prompting some good thinking from hairdressers UK! Now we have a blonde Barbie for life.
Blondes are now shaded, tones and Balayaged from all angles for a truly individual look to suit any client. You can create just the perfect blonde for your client… of any age. This week we’re reminded by Schwarzkopf Professional ambassador, and the self-styled king of blondes, Tim Scott Wright, to work with inspiration for the older client, too.
Every blonde is possible
First off, Tim has an over view advice for the traditional ‘Barbie blonde’. Here goes:
“The Barbie blonde is bright and shiny, not ashy. I use Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Premium Lightener 9+ for a full head of highlights, and then depending on the client’s natural base, I lift in between foils to brighten at the roots. You’re aiming for a vanilla, butter blonde so don’t go heavy with ash toners.”
Then work in the look for women of every age:
Barbie decoded
“Margot Robbie is the perfect reference for younger Gen Barbies. In between highlights I would do a high lift, using Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Blonde Lifting in shade Ice or Ash to give a cleaner result. I love Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Blonde Toning in shade Sand for toning for a golden hue.”
“For your 35-50 year old barbies, Pamela Anderson is a great reference. This blonde bombshell shade will need a base lift and blend instead of a high lift dependant on how much natural grey your client has. I use Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Lift&Blend to create the desired tone.
“For our more mature Barbies out there, Goldie Hawn is my go-to reference. Again, the process is the same, however you may not need as many lights here, BLONDME Lift&Blend will do most of your work for you. Combined with a scattering of lights to get the desired shade.”
Final word Tim? “The great thing about Barbie inspiration is that it speaks to us all on some level. Whether you’re 5 or 50, Barbie World is a fun and nostalgic place to be.”
