Talking hair loss

In Uncategorized by Nicky

As part of Hair Loss Awareness month, we focus on sharing the call for hairdressers and salons to be more understanding of, and knowledgeable about, the issue of hair loss. Frankly this month is great for bringing attention, but remember this is an all-year round, 24/7 issue that we must address.  The demand for thicker and fuller hair is on the rise, as many clients are going to new lengths to seek solutions for hair loss. Covid has thrown a light on the problem, too. We talked with the experts at Great Lengths to find out their direction on helping improve matters. This is what they had to say:

Know this

In the UK, 20% of women under 50 experience hair thinning, and two-thirds of all men will eventually be affected by male pattern baldness. Hair loss and androgenic thinning can be a distressing for many. As a luxury and superior-quality hair extension brand Great Lengths offers natural and discreet enhancements to both men and women to disguise baldness or thinning. This subtle solution disguises hair loss at the crown or the hairline in just one sitting, ensuring client’s leave the salon with a fresh, new look, and a boost of confidence.

Multi award-winning Great Lengths specialist, Jade Searcy says: “I see lots of clients with hair loss, whether that’s men who are balding, or women who have had radio and chemotherapy. I always suggest using Great Lengths as they are so tiny and discreet, and I can create bespoke bonds depending on the client.

The brand’s aim is to enhance an individual person’s natural beauty through extensions and offer a variety of shades and application methods to ensure wearers feel comfortable and confident every time. The extensions are available in GL Bonds and GL Tapes, with both being natural, discreet, and virtually undetectable, making them the ideal solution for those who want to disguise hair loss.

Jade uses perfectly colour-matched half and quarter GL Bonds on her clients to ensure any bald patches are covered, while using the Great Lengths Guard tool to make sure the correct amount of hair is used for the weight of the bond, and so there’s not one strand of hair left behind. She says: “My client’s love Great Lengths as they’re so easy to maintain, look so natural and avoid the alternative routes which could be a hair transplant which are invasive and expensive. Over the next few years, I think we will see a huge a rise in the extension market to help with hair loss.”
