Yes! You can believe it. Summer’s on its way and salons will be open to welcome clients. Once you’ve coped with the first wave of anxiety about reviving styles, colour and condition, it will be time to get creative. Trends may not be as clear as usual without the catwalks, music scene or red-carpet to influence the consumer, but Alterna Europe shows us how there are still vogues to watch for and prepare.
SS21 collection
Identifying the long, the mid and the short of it, we’re happy to pass on the advice of Joana Neves, session stylist who learned her craft essentially with Neil Moodie. She’s spent more than 10 years now on teams headed by the likes of Sam McKnight, James Pecis and Syd Hayes, as well as being a regular with Guido Palau. Her fashion nous is invaluable in another of her important roles, as editorial director at Alterna Europe. Here’s Joana’s take on the upcoming season’s hair trends with a lovely collection shot by photographer Jack Eames.
Mid length
“The mid-length haircut used to be seen as an awkward style that clients would have to experiment with when growing their bob out, but now, it’s more on trend than ever, with many client’s asking in salons for this haircut specifically. The beauty of this length is that it suits everyone and gives client’s the versatility to style their hair or leave it natural. For me, I love enhancing this hairstyle when it’s damp and leaving the hair to air dry.”
