After a year in Lockdown, salons are ready to open again and the hairdressing industry has a reason to celebrate. Now, Great Lengths has just given us another good one with the announcement of the GLammies awards.
We’re talking about the ultimate awards for extensions – now with a new name, new categories and an upcoming huge 10th anniversary celebration! Events and physical award ceremonies have been off limits for such a long time, so these news can bring nothing less than pure excitement.
GLammies by Great Lengths is open to salons and stylists across the UK and Ireland and seeks to celebrate the craft, creativity and business of extensions. Perfect timing as it’s a great opportunity to celebrate some post-lockdown transformations. With six specialist categories, six regional categories (new for 2021) and the coveted Great Lengths Trophy for Extension Excellence, there are no shortage of options to show off what hair extension specialists can do. With new online entry, it’s never been easier or more accessible to get involved.

Prizes
Great Lengths will be rolling out the red carpet for the GLammies with a glittering ceremony for finalists, where the winners will be crowned and receive their exciting prizes – including a GLammies trophy and media coverage, plus tickets for a group tour of the Great Lengths production facility in Rome, with two nights in a five star hotel, meals and internal transfers for two people. Sounds dreamy!
The Great Lengths Trophy for Extension Excellence is the ultimate prize on the night and will be awarded to a stylist whose passion and drive for extensions shines through across both business results and creative expression. But the big winner won’t only lift the Trophy for Extension Excellence; the stylist will also get the opportunity to take part in a photoshoot experience, working with the GL Education and Creative Team to create a concept, before bringing it to life. An all expenses paid photoshoot with a top makeup artist, stylist and photographer and the chance for the winner to include the finished images in their portfolio. Of course the photos will be shared with press and social media – meaning even more exposure!
How to enter
In order to support stylists with their entries and boost their skillset, Great Lengths has curated the best of their education – suggesting courses on the entry form to help stylists level up in specific areas before submitting an entry. This support, combined with the detail and testimonials required for business entries, all seek to elevate the art of hair extensions and raise recognition of the skill, creativity and business expertise required to thrive in the industry
Categories are ‘Creative’ and ‘Business’. The Creative Categories are Longer Length, Enviable Volume, Captivating Colour, Creative Innovation, Bridal Creation and Best Newcomer. All Great Lengths certified salons and stylists who work with Great Lengths extensions in a commercial environment can enter and it’s the perfect opportunity for stylists to demonstrate how extensions can transform the finest of hair, look natural, add volume, enhance hair colour, give clients the hair of their dreams or create a fashion-forward look.
The business categories are new for 2021. Business Categories are: Northern Hair Extension Salon/Freelancer of the Year, Midlands Hair Extension Salon/Freelancer of the Year, Southern Hair Extension Salon/Freelancer of the Year, Scottish Hair Extension Salon/Freelancer of the Year, Welsh Hair Extension Salon/ Freelancer of the Year, Northern Ireland Hair Extension Salon/Freelancer of the Year.
