Harbisson’s visualisation of Amy Winehouse’s Rehab
The latest collection from Allilon Education has a truly fascinating backstory. Exploring the relationship with colour and sound, ‘Sensory’ is inspired by the life and work of cyborg-artist Neil Harbisson. Harbisson is best known for being the first person to have an antenna implanted in his skull; and it is through this antenna that Neil is able to feel and hear colours as audible vibrations inside his head. This unique ability means that Neil is able to see visual representations of music in colour – like the Amy Winehouse track ‘Rehab’ left – as he perceives each colour to have its own sound. Thus, all of the clothes in Allilon Education’s ‘Sensory’ collection have specifically been designed so that Harbisson can hear it. It’s bonkers, but brilliant.
