10 Quickfire questions with Jason & India Miller

10 QuickfireIn our series of lightening quick interviews, we aim to get to know better our hairdressing friends with just 10 questions that reveal something of their personality, their work ethic and their hairdressing style. This is what we learned from Jason and India Miller!

Jason & India Miller are from Scotland’s first family of hairdressing. Jason’s Dad Charlie Miller is an eminent and well-known (and loved) figure who shaped UK hairdressing, and the family business runs ever strong today with sons Joshua and Jason, and Jason’s wife India at the helm. Creatively and artistically this dream team presides over 6 salons nurturing new talent and raising standards across the board, as well as educating and presenting shows globally. India and Jason often work as a pair so we interviewed them together, too:

1) How many years have you spent in hairdressing?
Jason 38 years and India 35 years

2) What’s your signature hairdressing vibe?
Understated glamour

3) What keeps you in hairdressing?
The connection with amazing people in the industry and the great relationships with our clients.
Also the freedom to be creative

4) Tell us a precious memory?
Our first Hair Show in New York when we were 20

5) Favourite piece of music? 
For Jason, Grace Jones – Slave to Rhythm / For India it’s Nils Frahm – ‘Says’

6) … and what’s your Karaoke song?
Jason for Cry Me a River… India? She doesn’t sing!

7) What do you love most about hairdressing?
Its creativity, its artistry and business

9) Best advice you were ever given?
Be genuine, empathetic and warm as best you can to others

10) Give us a hope for hairdressing after this pandemic is tamed?
That we all continue to be as caring to each other. And people’s businesses stay strong x
