In a post-pandemic world, the salon experience as we know it is going to look very different – both for clients and hairdressers. And, as we said before, preparation and organisation is key right now that salons across the UK are gearing up for hopeful reopening dates in July. On that note, Henkel Beauty Care Professional is providing four weeks of focused support for its partners across all aspects of the business: from PPE provision to bespoke education; to ensure that every member of the salon team is ready for a safe and successful return to work.
PPE Provision
Henkel has sourced quality PPE, so that salon owners who are Henkel customers will be able to order items to protect themselves and their clients. The PPE available includes: surgical grade face masks (for both clients and stylists), disposable gloves, unbranded capes and towels, face visors and hand sanitiser.
The PPE is available to anyone with a Henkel account, and is also available to wholesalers for both their staff and for retail. Pre-orders will be taken via the Henkel salesforce, with delivery anticipated in the last week of June, ahead of provisional reopening dates.
Salon Health & Safety Guidelines
Henkel PPS educators are providing online training for salon teams, to communicate the necessary procedures for employees and clients. This education will cover how to limit contact in salon, how to schedule appointments taking into account new timings; how to create a safe client journey and how to implement stringent hygiene and cleaning processes.
All online training will be backed up with a Henkel manual, which includes checklists, daily routines and salon hygiene advice, so that team members have a reference point at all times to help maintain standards long term. This manual is available online, for fast and easy consultation and can be accessed at:
We recommend this to everyone – Henkel client or not- please read it thoroughly; it’s a very helpful guide.
Business Q&As
In the run-up to provisional reopening dates in July, Schwarzkopf Professional will be building on the success of its regular Instagram Live sessions with a month of business-specific sessions, hosted by National PPS Manager UK & IRE, Kay Brady. These ask-anything Q&As will feature a salon owner guest each week, as Kay talks through safe and quick salon services, as well as the nitty gritty of scheduling appointments and creating a safe salon environment.
The topics being covered are:
1 June – Color 10 and ChromaID
8 June – Health and Safety in the Salon
15 June – Preparing to Reopen
22 June – Managing Appointments
Ongoing Education
Finally, the Schwarzkopf Professional PPS Team has four more weeks of dedicated education for salon partners available. These in-depth education sessions are for Schwarzkopf Professional salons and hairdressers exclusively, and will cover topics including colour correction and hair health, as well as refreshers on favourite product lines. With four sessions per week, these education sessions are perfect for the whole salon team and can be booked directly through your salon rep. Note the dates:
1 June : Hair Rehab and Retail Secrets
9 June : Igora Blonde Perfection and Ultimate BlondMe
16 June: Quick Application Services and How to Fix It

Julian Crane, General Manager UK & Ireland for Henkel Beauty Care Professional, comments: “We’ve been incredibly inspired by the positivity and proactive responses of our hairdressing community during the lockdown period, and have been proud to support the wider industry with initiatives like Help Your Salon, our charitable donations and social media live sessions to inspire and educate. Now, as we move into what is hopefully the final four weeks of lockdown, we’re proud to be supporting our salon partners with practical resources, targeted education focussing on reopening and ongoing social media sessions that provide real, practical advice and an opportunity to hear from peers and ask questions. As the industry prepares for hopeful reopening, we feel confident that we are providing our salon partners and the hairdressing community with the resources they need to do with confidence.”
